WINTER SHOWS UP....LATE!

Well folks, I think winter decided to show up all in one day!  We got slammed!  I believe we got all of winters snow we never got yet in one day.

This is from the day before, I was so excited that my daffodil's were coming up...now they are sitting under a foot of snow

This was my pond the day before.  I could even see fish  swimming around down there.

This is my pond today, poor fishes
I guess one consolation in all this late winter weather is the doggies really loved it, they couldn't eat the snow fast enough!

Yum, our favorite winter snack!

Wow, this is alot of snow!

crunch, crunch, crunch
I guess I can see a small beauty in mother natures fury...If only for a moment!

THE BROWN...IS NOW WHITE!

So much for waiting for spring to arrive...I have been counting the days to spending hours outside gardening with the dogs (they will of course be chewing there bones) and the awesome smell of spring in the air.  Well...for some reason, the weatherman never told us that this is what we would wake up to this morning!

All this used to be brown and I kinda liked the color.  It is also going to be cold this weekend so no chance of this melting right away.  I guess we will have to wait until next week when it gets back to the upper 30s.   And what does Rudy think of this weather.........................................................

Check out my gardening blog and you can get a look at my plants that are waiting for spring too!

WE GOT SNOW!

We did get some snow last night if that what you want to call it...just enough to cover the dirty looking ground and to make the dogs extremely excited about going out side!  The dogs seem to forget the task at hand (going Potty and eating breakfast) for eating the fresh snow instead.

WHERE IS WINTER?

I know the calendar said we are in winter right now, but it sure hasn't felt or looked alot like winter!  We did have a few inches of snow and the below zero cold snap last week, all pretty much in the same week.  It is now 38 degrees this morning and raining and yes, a wet mess from all the little dog feet.

Doggies playing in the muck which isn't very fun!

My pond was frozen, but...it rained
Mud puddles instead of snow banks

Well I guess the doggies will just have to play with the new toys I found them until the weather gets better!

The pink ones my favorite!

Don't try and take my teddy!
I love my new toys!

Then there's Rudy who likes to beat his brother tuckers pillow up......

Aah, I finally got my bed back!

     And how was your day?

THE DOG DAYS OF WINTER

Our winter here in Wisconsin has just begun....What?   Its already the middle of  January!  Well we had a truly great fall/beginning of winter.   The doggies and I were doing daily walk up until our January12th snowstorm, we sat on our outdoor swing in 50 degree weather.

Our doggies do love the snow, but when it gets cold they like to lay around in the house.  It was 10 degrees today and will be colder tomorrow.

SNOWSTORM "ANGELA"

We finally had our first major snow storm of the season!  It was a named storm since it had more then a few inches, the first named storm of the year.  Normally here in Wisconsin, we would be half way threw the alphabet all ready.

The winter here has been gorgeous and that's not a word that's used often to describe winter.  Our last little bit of snow was the 1/2 inch we got before Christmas, but being in the high 30s and 40s it didn't stick around long.

We received the snow in the evening, just some light fluffy stuff, but when the dogs eyed it they forgot that they went out to do there business.  My dogs LOVE the snow!  They even at times have forgotten that it was time to eat.  I'm not sure the fascination with the snow and why they want to eat so much of it.  They beg to go outside, not to go potty, but to eat more snow.

Yum!
what fun!

The doggies were sure glad to see this new amount of snow that fell on January 12th!

DOGS ARE LOVING THE SNOW

Here we are ready to go
Here in Algoma WI we finally got a little snow fall.  I could of went the whole winter with the mild temps we were having.  I was still able to do dog walks right up until January 1st!  The doggies on the other hand love the snow.  Especially eating it!

Saturday, November 5, 2011

We are in the last of our fall days here in Algoma WI.  The trees have lost there leaves and the fall yard work is coming to an end.  I have raked leave and carried them to the road to be picked up by the city department only to start over the next day. I don't mind though, since doing outdoor activities is a relaxing way to clear your mind and get the daily exercise I need.

My pond will be winterized today and the fish Will lay dormant at the bottom for a good 6 months. I sure will miss the beauty of my pond and the calming effect the waterfall gave me all summer long. The monarch butterflies and the flowers have long since gone, and the end of autumn becomes a cold reminder of whats to come.

The grill has been covered, we do not grill out in the winter.  Alot of people grill out year round, I am not one of them.  My dogs will miss the nice weather also.  They loved spending hours a day basking in the sun or laying under a shade tree.  They enjoy running in freshly fallen snow, but do not like the cold.
Soon the snow will come and although I do not like it, I do like to cross country ski. Maybe its time to get the skis out and wax them up and get ready for a new adventure!
